THE FERTILIZERS

A strategic resource for global food supply and production system sustainability.

Fertilizers have been essential allies for agriculture since the early 20th century. Their application, in accordance with best agronomic practices is essential to preserve and protect soil health, plant nutrition, and increase crop yields Today, it is estimated that these inputs enable the production of about 50% of the food generated globally.

Accordin to the Asociación Internacional de Fertilizantes (IFA), by 2050, the world will need to produce 50% more food to feed a global population that will exceed 9 billion people. Moreover, this must be achieved on a cultivable land area that remains stable over time. Increasing the amount of arable land would involve encroaching upon protected or native areas, negatively impacting ecosystem biodiversity. Therefore, fertilizers are essential allies in achieving this global challenge.

In Argentina, fertilizers play a key role in promoting strategic crops for agricultural sustainability, such as corn, wheat, and barley. The primary fertilizer used by these cereals is granulated urea, which provides the highest percentage of nitrogen, a key nutrient in the development of above-ground biomass.

WE OFFER HIGH-QUALITY PRODUCTS AND PROVIDE TRAINING TO CLIENTS, AGRICULTURAL ADVISORS, AND PRODUCERS IN OPTIMIZING FERTILIZER USE PRACTICES, SOIL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, AND THE SUSTAINABILITY OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS.

Fertilizers play a strategic role in increasing agricultural productivity and, consequently, in enabling greater food availability. They are also essential for replenishing the soil with the nutrients that plants extract for their growth. In this regard, at Profertil, we promote soil care as a central policy. To achieve this, we emphasize the importance of conducting soil analyses and using tools to plan crop nutrition.

Products should be applied using best management practices, considering the correct sources to use and the appropriate doses based on diagnostic tools, and applied at the right time and in the right manner Territory managers and R&D analysts, distributed across various regions of the country, keep us in constant contact with agronomy technicians and agricultural advisors. This allows us to promote the responsible use of fertilizers through the promotion of good agricultural practices, based on the 4R Nutrient Management Principles (Right Source, Right Rate, Right Time, Right Place).

Our purpose is clear: we sustainably nurture the soil to produce more and better food. This is a concept that our entire team lives by every day through concrete actions. From the production of urea to supporting distributors and producers for its final application. Consistency throughout the entire chain is key to achieving this.”

WE PRODUCE AND MARKET FERTILIZERS THAT SUSTAINABLY NOURISH THE CROPS OF OUR FIELDS

Annually, our plant produces about 1,320,000 t of Granulated Urea and 790,000 t of ammonia. In addition, we market other fertilizers and prepare special blends to ensure that crops have the right balance of nutrients to optimize their performance sustainably. We have different types of products, classified, according to their final destination, as follows:

Agro division

Industrial division

Each product has its respective Safety Data Sheet (FDS), outlining the main measures for its safe, efficient, and responsible use, as well as components and other relevant information. These sheets are prepared based on existing documentation and studies, in line with efficient and reliable industry practices.

Additionally, we promote Best Management Practices (BMP) for crop nutrition and train technical advisors, producers, clients, and the general public, enabling them to convey appropriate agronomic knowledge tailored to each environment, while caring for the soil and the sustainability of productive systems in different regions of the country.

IN 2023, WE SOLD 39,080 TONS OF PROAIRE, THE UREA SOLUTION THAT REDUCES NOX EMISSIONS IN EURO V AND VI ENGINES. WITH THIS SALE, 12,510 TONS OF NOx EMISSIONS WERE AVOIDED.
Sales of products designed for resource efficiency during the use phase 2023 2022 2021

ProAire (t) 39,080 35,025 21,910

In 2023, revenues from products designed for resource efficiency during the use phase amounted to USD 10,869,126, corresponding to eNeTOTAL PLUS and USD 11,716,680 corresponding to PROAIRE. eNeTOTAL PLUS is a fertilizer that maximizes the utilization of surface-applied nitrogen, as it prevents losses through volatilization. In a theoretical study by the Profertil Maize Network from 2008 to 2020, it was found that as fertilizer doses increase, eNeTOTAL PLUS reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 21% and improves carbon capture in the soil. This is due to increased crop yield and, consequently, higher residue When considering the ratio of kilograms of grains produced per kilogram of emitted CO2eq, it is 40% more efficient than other fertilizers.

AGRO DIVISION

• 14 products for the nutrition of crops and the health care of our soils.

Main recipients: Agricultural producers, leasing producers, and contractors

Main nitrogen fertilizer used in agriculture.. It supplies the necessary nitrogen to enhance crop productivity, such as wheat and corn.

Solid and liquid blends that provide the necessary nutrients for each crop in a balanced manner. It comes in two variants: starter and grower, designed specifically for different stages of the crop cycle.

Balanced physical mixture of phosphorus and sulfur, with gradual release. This allows the crop to have the necessary sulfur at the time it most needs it. By applying a high dose of Proterra S before sowing, the nutrition of the immediate crop and the whole sequence is achieved, since these nutrients do not leach away and remain available for the plants.

It is the nitrogen fertilizer with the highest concentration of stabilized nitrogen (N) in the market, and its formula ensures greater nitrogen use efficiency while protecting the environment. By reducing nitrogen loss through volatilization, indirect nitrous oxide emissions are avoided.

OTHER
FERTILIZERS

Monoammonium Phosphate (MAP), Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), Triple Super Phosphate (SPT), Single Super Phosphate (SPS), Ammonium Sulfate (SA), Calcium Sulfate (SCa), Potassium and Magnesium Sulfate, Potassium Chloride (ClK), Boron (B), Zinc (Zn) and UAN and liquid blends with Ammonium Thiosulfate.

INDUSTRIAL DIVISION

• 3 chemical products.
Main recipients: Certain industries (as part of their production processes) and the automotive industry.

AMMONIA
We produce liquid ammonia as an intermediate product of the granulated urea production process, i.e. As intermediate product. This is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, the production of explosives for mining, as a coolant in various industries, in the preparation of cosmetics and hair dyes, and in the production of disinfectants and kitchen cleaners.

PROAIRE
Urea solution in water for diesel engines, designed to reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx), which are responsible for acid rain and also act as indirect greenhouse gases (GHG). This product is applied in a special tank for heavy vehicles, separate from the fuel, and is mixed as a spray with the exhaust gases. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology, through a chemical reaction, converts NOx into nitrogen and water vapor, which are harmless to the environment. This meets the requirements of Euro V and Euro VI standards of the European Union, which regulate the allowable limits of vehicle emissions. We supply the local market and export to neighboring countries.

LIVESTOCK
UREA

LIVESTOCK UREA
The supply of granulated urea as an additive generates microbial protein.. The synthesis of microbial protein in the rumen requires the timely availability of adequate sources of nitrogen and carbohydrates for rapid bacterial growth. The consequence of asynchrony in the digestion of nitrogen and energy sources is an increase in the absorption of ruminal ammonia into the bloodstream and conversion to Urea in the liver. Part of this is excreted via urine after passing through the kidney, and the other part returns to the rumen through saliva. Usage recommendations: due to the variability in diets and nutritional approaches, we recommend adjusting the usage based on the technical guidelines provided by a veterinary advisor or agricultural engineer.

SERVICES

Customized blends: We prepare physical blends upon request, tailored to each customer’s needs. The correct blending process must ensure the precise dosing of each nutrient. It is essential to prevent the segregation of different components and ensure a homogeneous application in the field that they have similar granulometries and are chemically compatible to avoid chemical reactions that degrade the quality of the mixture.

Bulk shipments: This is the preavailing trend in the fertilizer market due to its advantages:

• Faster dispatch operations
• Lower fertilizer supply costs
• Reduced operational expenses
• Manual loading and unloading of the truck avoided.
• Avoidance of bag usage, disposal and/or reuse.

Bagging: For customers who require it, we offer the possibility of delivering products in 25 kg or 50 kg bags, as well as 1 ton bulk bags. We have a batch allocation system that streamlines dispatch operations. This ensures a fast, efficient service with no extended waits.
